For Property Owners

Register your interest in CEIP financing for your building's energy upgrades

Program Status: Phase 1 -- Designation and Bylaw Development

Deep Retrofit Capital has been designated as Alberta's CEIP Program Administrator by Ministerial Order 16/2025. We are currently working with municipalities across Alberta to establish CEIP bylaws and administration agreements.

Applications for CEIP financing will open once your municipality has adopted a CEIP bylaw and entered an administration agreement with DRC. This process is underway and we are actively engaging municipalities province-wide.

How CEIP Benefits You

Lower Energy Costs

Energy improvements reduce your building's energy consumption, lowering ongoing utility costs. DRC's audit-verified approach ensures the projected savings are realistic and measurable, so you can plan with confidence.

Increased Property Value

Energy-efficient buildings command higher market values and attract tenants willing to pay a premium for lower operating costs. Deep retrofits position your property for long-term competitiveness in Alberta's building stock.

Easy Repayment

Repayment is collected through your property tax -- no separate loan payments, no personal credit impact. If you sell the property, the remaining balance transfers to the new owner along with the energy savings benefits.

Property Type Coverage

DRC administers CEIP for all property types. Funding limits, fees, and requirements vary by type.

Property Type Max Funding Application Fee Requirements
Residential $50,000 $100 Dower Act compliance, mortgagor confirmation
Commercial $1,000,000 $500 Professional oversight throughout. Projects exceeding $1M require Minister and council approval.
Farm $300,000 $200 Seasonal baselines, MGA Part 10 provisions
Non-Designated Industrial $1,000,000 $500 Professional oversight throughout

What to Expect

When CEIP launches in your municipality, here is what the process looks like.

1

Your Municipality Adopts CEIP

Your municipality passes a CEIP bylaw and enters an administration agreement with DRC. You will be notified when this happens if you register your interest below.

2

Submit Your Application

You apply through DRC's platform, providing proof of ownership, insurance documentation, and a property tax sworn statement. An energy assessment is completed for your property.

3

Review and Approval

DRC reviews your application against eligibility criteria. Once approved, you receive a CEIP agreement with clearly defined financial terms and a 10-business-day rescission period.

4

Installation by Qualified Contractor

A DRC Qualified Contractor carries out the approved improvements under professional oversight. DRC verifies completion against the approved scope before releasing final payment.

5

Enjoy the Savings

Your improvements start saving energy immediately. Repayment is collected automatically through your property tax. One year after completion, a post-project audit confirms your actual energy performance.
